Rev. Sidney Warren Owen

Rev. Sidney Warren Owen was born on Jan. 5, 1894. He was the only son of Sidney P. Owen and Kate Rich Owen. He was the grandson of Rev. Saberet Rich, who was the first pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He finished school and became a teacher in 1915, first teaching at Randolph School and then at Popular Grove Elementary School. He met Hazel Maurine Meadows while teaching at Poplar Grove, and they married April 27, 1917. He taught and was principal at Owen School until his death. He was admired as a teacher and was a great influence in the lives of his students. He was an outdoor person who loved to fish and hunt, which he often did with his cousins, Charles and Irvin Owen.

Rev. Owen was ordained as a minister at Oak Grove Baptist Church in July of 1934. He then became a pastor at Rialto. The next year on Mar 31, 1935, Warren died of pneumonia. He had four children, Devoe, who died at birth, Mrs. Anita Price, Mrs. Dorcas, Delano, and Mrs. Warrene Koonce who attends Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Rev. Owen taught this verse to his students.
