ABNER J. HANNA PASSES AWAY

Mr. Abner J. Hanna, aged 87 years, an ex-Confederate soldier, died last Thursday at 6 p.m. at the home of his son, Mr. W. H. Hanna, at Halls, Tenn., after a protracted illness.

The funeral was held at 3:30 o’clock Friday afternoon in the A. R. P. church in this city, Rev. R. W. Carson, of Rosemark, conducting the service in the presence of a larger gathering of friends and relatives. Interment followed in Munford cemetery.

Mr. Hanna was born July 19, 1835. He was the father of the late Dr. J. H. Hanna and the late T.R. Hanna of this city. Until about four years ago he made his home in Covington, locating at that time in Halls, Tenn., where he had since resided with his son Mr. W. H. Hanna.

Early in life Mr. Hanna connected himself with the A. R. P. church and was a consistent and devoted member of that denomination. For many years he was a leading layman of the local church. Mr. Hanna was well known in Tipton county, and especially in Covington. His death, though not unexpected, was a shock to the entire community.

Mr. Hanna is survived by one son, five grandchildren and a brother, Mr. W. C. Hanna, of this city. (The Covington Leader, August 24, 1922)
